IT TREND TIMEFRAME: The primary market trend. Lasting from several months to several years or more. Often but not always associated with business cycles (growth / recession).

ST PULSE TIMEFRAME: The ebb and flow of the index around the primary trend. Usually lasting from several weeks to several months.

SIGNAL SEQUENCE: 1: Turning Pt.; 2: Turn Confirmed; 3: Move Underway; 4: Move Mature. Signal Sequence includes "gradations" using along a spectrum of: 1 to 4.5.  These extra gradations just give us a bit more latitude in labelling the nature of the current readings, while remaining within a simple 4-point overall range.

SIGNAL COLORS: Moves to bullish turn green; moves to bearish turn red. Yellow MAY be used to indicate a turning, congesting, erratic, or unclear situation.

SIGNAL CHARTS: Our trend signals are delivered in written format. Subscribers should have their own charting service to best follow our opinions. We will refer to easily recognized chart landmarks such as "the resistance line connecting the highs of Feb. 23 and March 15". The reader needs to then refer to their own charts to locate and draw in these lines. To visually see the Trend and Pulse we occasionally upload daily charts to familiarize readers with our approach to support, resistance, entry, stop placement, etc..
